Van2Camper Frequently Asked Questions

We list below the most common questions we're asked about our campervan conversion services. If you have a question that isn't addressed here please don't hesitate to contact us and we'll be happy to help.

Currently we focus mainly on the following vehicles: Mazda Bongo Friendee, Ford Freda, VW Transport T4, T5 and T6, VW Crafter, Nissan Elgrand, Nissan Primastar, Citroen Dispatch, Fiat Scudo, Peugeot Expert, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic and Renault Master.

However, if you own a model of van not listed above please contact us to see if we can help. We love a challenge, especially when it comes to an usual or interesting vehicle!

Our workshop is at 50a Symondscliff Way on Symondscliff Industrial Estate in Portskewett, Gwent.

Portskewett is on the Welsh side of the Severn Estuary between the M48 and M4, close to the Severn Bridge and Prince of Wales Bridge. Our workshop is ideally located to serve customers who live in towns and cities such as Bristol, Cardiff, Newport, Cwmbran, Gloucester, Swindon, Bath, Stroud, Cirencester, Chippenham, Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea and Bridgwater. Our postcode is NP26 5PW.

If you need to use public transport Caldicot railway station is 1.5 miles away and approximately a 27 minute walk. We are more than happy to drop and collect you from Caldicot or Severn Tunnel Junction station.

Caldicot and Severn Tunnel Junction stations are operated by Transport for Wales. Major interchange stations such as Newport, Cardiff and Bristol are then a short train ride away.

We have been converting vans for almost fifteen years. Originally we started by building a horse box from a box lorry and we then moved onto building Mazda Bongo Friendees and Ford Fredas for a local car dealer who was impressed with our horse box conversion.

We now have hundreds of successfully completed projects under our belt ranging from van conversions and race van conversions to stretch limo interior refits and conversions. We have a large number of delighted customers who have gone on to enjoy countless outdoor adventures in their transformed vans!

While the overall costs may be higher when using a professional company for your conversion there are also many benefits to this route compared with a home project.

Having served hundreds of customers over the last fifteen years we have the knowledge and experience to make the best possible use of the space inside a van along with an understanding of the potential pitfalls and challenges that come with fitting out each particular vehicle model.

For the van makes and models outlined on our website we have a tried and tested ‘template’ of precision cut boards and surfaces that fit perfectly into each van and we can also advise and complete work on other models not listed here. We take the same approach when it comes to fitting other elements including electrics, water systems, lighting, rails and pop-top roofs, using best practice and judgement based on hundreds of previous installations.

We have good relationships with our suppliers and can source a wide range of appliances and materials at competitive rates. We can advise on any particular requirements you may have or features you would like fitted for a personalised conversion.

So in summary we can help you avoid stress, wasted materials, roadworthiness issues, many hours of lost work and a potentially unsatisfactory conversion.

This depends on many factors; turnaround times normally range from five working days to three weeks and is subject to the amount of work required on individual vans and how busy we are at any time.

We don’t ‘sit’ on vans and will confirm timescales with you when accepting a booking.

Pricing varies between each conversion, vehicle model, the number of features required and current pricing on parts and accessories from our suppliers. As a very rough guide a conversion can be as low as £3500 plus VAT for some models. This includes insulation, storage cabinets, a folding bed, insulation and flooring. For an accurate, no-obligation quote please call us on 0800 180 4305 or complete the online enquiry form.

A professionally-fitted and well-maintained campervan can be an excellent investment, in a financial sense as well as having a positive effect on your physical and mental wellbeing.

Unlike the majority of cars, campervans have the potential to hold their value and, in some cases, increase their value when the time comes to sell. As with any market this situation can vary depending on demand, trends and availability.
